Tomkins notes that the sign for BRAVE was formerly used by many, but that this one is the current preference.

Clark notes to make the sign for BRAVE. Sometimes sign for MUST or PUSH is used; in sentences as "I want you to be strong in your efforts," "strong in your work," etc.

Clarks book was published in 1884, so if doing historical re-enacting before that period it is probably best to make the sign for BRAVE instead of this.
