Description

(meaning: earth covered over)

Bring extended hands, backs up, well out in front of body, fingers pointing to front, right hand very little higher than left, hands about height of breast and several inches apart; move the right hand to left, left to right, turning hands slightly by wrist action, so that fingers of right hand are pointing to left and front, left hand to right and front, terminating movement when wrists are crossed.

Notes

Clark notes that darkness seems to be considered a material thing by Indians; it spreads over the earth like two huge blankets. He mentions that he has also seen the sign made to denote sun setting for night.

Tomkins says that the hands should be 10 inches apart compared to Clarks mention of several inches.
