beaver
|
Description(meaning: tail of beaver striking mud or water) Hold extended left hand, back up, pointing to right and front, in front of body, left forearm horizontal; bring the extended right hand, back up, under and at right angles with left, back of right resting against palm of left hand; lower the right hand by wrist action, and raise it, back of right striking against left palm sharply, repeat motion. |
NotesClark notes that he has seen Indians, who were not fully conversant with the sign language, make gesture for little animals working in mud and water, gnawing down trees, etc., to denote a beaver. Tomkins does not state the right hand should start by resting against the left palm, or that the sign should be repeated. |
